As a Mantua Township resident for my entire 18 years of life, I have watched my town, along with Glassboro and the Rowan University main campus, grow and evolve. It is hard for me to understand why community members who oppose the project say that, this time, we shouldn’t grow.”

“The light-rail line would offer an alternative to automobile dependency by restoring passenger rail service to communities with very limited public transit options. It would also have an immediate environmental benefit by reducing the level of congestion on our increasingly overburdened roadways. This can have a significant impact on the single greatest contributor of greenhouse gas emissions in New Jersey.”

The Delaware River Port Authority recently held public hearings on the Environmental Impact Study of the long-anticipated Glassboro Camden Rail Line, which is the next step in the decades-long journey to establish a rail line that runs to and from these beacons of economic development for the region.

The Southern New Jersey Development Council, a non-profit economic development-lobbying organization, has been a tireless advocate for the expansion of passenger rail service in South Jersey and strongly supports the Glassboro-Camden Line (GCL) project.

With a $1 trillion infrastructure bill being drafted in Washington, D.C., Jamie LeFrak of the North Jersey Transportation Planning Authority says New Jersey is in the midst of a once-in-a-generation opportunity to build and rebuild critical transportation infrastructure across the state.

The Glassboro-Camden Line (GCL) is a proposed 18-mile passenger rail line between Glassboro & Camden in South Jersey. The line restores passenger rail service along an existing rail line traversing Gloucester & Camden counties.

In 2027, Rowan students will have the opportunity to benefit from the full operation of the Gloucester-Camden Line (GCL) and its two Glassboro stations, one located right on Rowan University’s doorstep.
